Podcasting is an awesome marketing tool and ongoing marketing strategy for any author. It’s not difficult. You can produce a fairly good quality audio with your desktop computer and some free software. But, if you’re looking at podcasting as a main marketing tool with sponsorship potential you will want to either invest in the best equipment (again, you can do this yourself) or hire a professional to edit your audio and add some polish with sound effects and intro and outro music.
Podcasting -
1. Is an intimate marketing tool. You speak directly to your target market.
2. Is a great tool to reinforce your message to your niche audience and readers.
3. Can expand your brand and book awareness.
4. Is portable and available 24/7 to everybody in the world (honest!).
5. Can have a subscriber to generating passive income.
6. Can provide added revenue through sponsorships and affiliations.
7. Is easy and fun to do!
The length of your podcast will depend on your audience and topic. Generally speaking a 10 to 15 minute podcast posted twice a week is sufficient to keep you in front of your audience and build your brand.

An Author’s Assistant can help you manage your social networking campaign by identifying popular social networking sites, create an account, upload your profile, contact information, book information and then monitor these sites for comments and posts of interest.
Some of the most popular social networking sites are:
1. MySpace
2. FaceBook
3. LinkedIn
4. Biznik
5. Twitter
6. Squidoo
7. Hubpages
. . . just to name a few.
All of these sites can be used to market your books and to make important connections with your customers. Through short posts or full length articles you can showcase your expertise as well.
